Get Pregnant: Helpful Tips to Getting Pregnant

Having a child in today’s world isn’t as easy as it may seem for a lot of people. Infertility can be caused by a variety of environmental and genetic complications. For most couples, making the decision to begin building a family is a fun and exciting time. You spend late nights up laughing together and formulating baby names as you imagine the magic yet to come. In those early months, the act of trying can actually infuses passion and romance into your relationship. The first cycle or two of negative pregnancy tests don’t even seem to matter, because when you have no reason to believe anything might be wrong, you just assume it will happen eventually. As more months pass without happy news, however, the fun and excitement begins to fade; replaced now by stress, disappointment and worries.

Accepting the fact that you suffer from infertility is heart-wrenching. The fact that family building will be difficult in all terms like biologically, emotionally, financially and socially gives you a feeling as though you are being failed by your own body. Even with a diagnosis and treatment plan in place, many women and couples still struggle to regain that sense of stability which is regularly lost at the hands of infertility.

In today’s time, most of the time female infertility is related to the age factor. Women’s are prolonging the motherhood for one or the other reason like career, financial strength and search for the better partner. By the time all goals are achieved biological clock in the women starts ticking. It becomes too late to start pregnancy naturally. Then there is no other option to seek help of assisted reproductive technology like IVF, ICSI, IUI, Egg Donor, Cryopreservation and others.

When a couple plans for a baby it is important that apart from spending quality time with your spouse other few important things must also be considered. Normally people wait for the conception to happen and then after trying for sometime if they fail they will seek specialist help. Along the path to baby making there may be some things you can do that can vastly increase your chances of successfully conceiving. Although some may be more drastic than others, it’s a small price to pay for enlightening your future. Following must be considered.

Chemical Interactions on Human Body

Toxic chemicals can do a variety of damage within the body. A large portion of this damage is silent and may not manifest itself immediately. In many situations, pesticides and petroleum-based products can cause infertility for both men and women. Environmental contaminants are recognized hazards to reproductive health. An unprecedented study has revealed that the chemicals in everyday products including sunscreen, toothpaste and soap, could be damaging human sperm. Common chemical additives found in sunscreens, food packaging, toothpaste and toys can harm sperm and may affect the fertility of some couples, scientists say. If you’re trying to conceive a child, it may be best to stay away from harsh chemicals and eat more organic foods.

Possible Foods and Beverages to Avoid

It has been found that food can greatly impact the ability to reproduce and has been discovered in both men and women alike. Some food products are more potent at improving fertilization than others and can affect the results of conception for up to 90 days. According to Hethir Rodriguez C.H. at Natural Fertility Info, women who ate more proteins from plants than animals were more likely to reproduce. A major factor in this Harvard study was the reduction of consuming Tran’s fats. The foods that you consume on a daily basis can affect your fertility in both positive and negative ways. It’s common knowledge that eating a diet full of fat and calories will negatively affect your body and your fertility, but did you also know that eating a diet that is too strict can also negatively affect your fertility? The drinks that you are consuming every day can also affect your fertility in both positive and negative ways. There are a few simple food tips that everyone can follow to help improve fertility and boost the chances of successfully conceiving. Eat balanced diet, limit the consumption of caffeine, drink alcohol sparingly, take folic supplements and avoid tobacco consumption and intake through inhaling the smoke of tobacco.

Avoiding Allergens on the Path of Pregnancy

Reducing your interaction with things that produce allergic reactions can improve your chances of having a baby. It’s believed that your immune system may be capable of doing its job all too well leading to miscarry upon fertilization. Allergies to food have also been linked to anti-sperm capabilities reducing the male’s capacity to fertilize an egg. If you are allergic or sensitive to certain things avoid it during the time of conception.

Sexual Transmitted Diseases and its Effects

Some STDs have the capacity to render a person’s reproductive system inert. For instance, Chlamydia infections can cause abnormalities and sperm antibodies in men while scarring and blocking fallopian tubes within women. Even though you may not be showing signs of various diseases, these could be wreaking havoc on you internally. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are important preventable causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility. Untreated, about 10-15% of women with chlamydia will develop PID. Chlamydia can also cause fallopian tube infection without any symptoms. PID and “silent” infection in the upper genital tract may cause permanent damage to the fallopian tubes, uterus, and surrounding tissues, which can lead to infertility. Getting regular checkups for younger women’s below the age of 25 years and those opting for pregnancy is very beneficial especially since many of these complications could lay dormant for several years before manifesting themselves.

Sperm Donors for Male Infertility

When the reason for infertility is male factor and low sperm count or no sperm at all then donor sperm treatment is at the rescue of infertile couple. There are a lot of men that are affected by low motility and decreased sperm counts. If all else fails, donor programs are available to help conceive a child. You can purchase vials of sperm and have them quickly shipped to you. This provides social anonymity and helps keep the process private, which is helpful if you feel embarrassed by having complications such as these. In short time, you can begin the process of having your own child while using a donor’s sperm.

Donor insemination is a simple procedure that uses a syringe to place semen into a woman’s vagina to assist her in getting pregnant. The semen is normally obtained from someone other than the woman’s husband or partner. With the newer technology and success of the ICSI procedure that enables a single sperm to be manually inserted into the woman’s egg versus a complete semen collection, donor insemination is becoming less common.

Increase Fertility, Fertility Treatments, Male & Female Infertility

Following are the recommended ways to optimize Your Health and Fertility and it includes

1) Getting enough sleep. Odd sleep and wake cycles can throw off your menstrual cycle, which is unlikely to lead to infertility but could make getting pregnant fast more difficult.

2) Eating a balanced diet and drinking enough water. Shun extreme diets or binging when you’re trying to conceive.

3) Lowering stress may help you conceive faster. Acute stress can throw off your menstrual cycle.

4) For the men, it is recommended to keep away from hot tubs, laptops placed directly on the lap, seat warmers, and sitting too long with the legs close together. It can all increase the scrotal temperatures, which can negatively impact sperm counts.

5) Washing your hands and staying away from sick people. Illness can throw off your cycle.

6) Cut down on caffeine and alcohol drinks – this is for the men and the women both. Quit smoking too.

It is not an easy job to follow the recommendations but not difficult if it is not only improving your health now but also helping you have a healthier pregnancy and be a good example to your future child.

There are other things you can do to improve your fertility and overall health that take more effort and time. A big one is making sure your weight falls within healthy limits. Being just slightly overweight has been shown to decrease fertility.

There are many complications that can prevent someone from conceiving a child. While some can be circumvented easily, others may require a more in-depth analysis into reproductive treatments. These methods are substantiated by scientific evidence, but there is no guarantee that they will work for you. Each person is different and what works for one may not work for another. It is just a guideline that will help intending parents to conceive faster.

Getting Pregnant Second Time – The desire for second child – Impact of Sex, Age & Lifestyle Factors on Secondary Infertility – Causes, Remedies and Treatment for Secondary Infertility – Treatment of Secondary Infertility at Blossom IVF Centre Surat, Gujarat – Factors contributing to Secondary Infertility -Reasons of Failure to conceive again – Blossom Fertility Centre and Secondary Infertility – Treatment options for Secondary Infertility in Surat, Gujarat India.

Deciding to try for a brother or sister to your first child is an exciting step. You have already experienced the journey of parenthood once and hence are ready to welcome second baby in the family easily. Secondary infertility is the inability to get pregnant despite frequent, unprotected sex for at least a year in women under age 35 or six months in women age 35 and older, by a couple who have previously had a pregnancy. It is a misconception in majority of the population that if you get pregnant once you have no problem next time. Secondary infertility is a common problem that can be heartbreaking for many couples.

The inability to become pregnant or carry a pregnancy to term after you’ve already had a baby is known as secondary infertility and is more common accounting for 60 percent of infertility cases. And it’s especially common in women who wait to have their second babies until their late 30s or even 40s, when fertility starts reducing.

What are the causes of secondary infertility?

There are a number of underlying medical conditions such as endometriosis, a poor sperm count and fibroids that may not have affected your first conception but could affect subsequent ones. Or problems that can kick in after the birth of your first child, which can then affect your ability to conceive. For example a Caesarean may have caused uterine adhesions, a womb infection post labor or a retained placenta can cause scarring making conception difficult.

Age may be a main factor, especially if you were a lot younger when you had your first child, or you had a late start to your family building. Some causes of infertility may worsen over time, like endometriosis or growing fibroids. If you’ve gained significant weight since your first child, that can also lead to problems conceiving.

About one-third of infertility cases are related to male infertility, another third are related to female infertility, and another third are related to problems in both the man and woman, or remain unexplained. Perhaps there are no obvious reasons why you can’t conceive this time as compared to the last time.

Getting Pregnant Second Time

What could have gone wrong from first pregnancy to the stage of secondary infertility?

Lifestyle also has a massive effect on the fertility. If a problem is persisting, one should evaluate lifestyle changes to see if it has radically changed from the first time you became pregnant. For instance, compared to the first time you conceived consider what has gone wrong between both the partners.

  • Has your weight or BMI reached an unhealthy level post-baby?
  • Taken up unhealthy habits such as smoking or drinking?
  • Are you overdosing on coffee, teas, and colas?
  • Are you more stressed?
  • Are you having regular sex once or twice a week?
  • Has your menstrual cycle changed/do you know when you’re ovulating?
  • Do you have high blood pressure or are you on some medication?
  • Are you tired all the time?

All of the above factors can affect your ability to get pregnant again.

Few simple measures if adopted by the couple may help them conceive and overcome the problem of secondary infertility. Make necessary changes in your lifestyle. Gained weight/lost weight (both have an adverse effect if taken to extremes). Eat a diet rich in whole grains, good proteins, veggies, and fruits. And, as always, exercise and maintain a healthy weight. Avoid alcohol, smoking, illicit drugs, caffeine and colas. Other steps which needs consideration includes :

1) Stress management: Stress can be a major factor in trying to get pregnant. Reducing stress can be done in different ways. Generally, reducing stress hormone levels involves a change in diet and exercising. Meditation has also proved effective as a stress buster. Many doctors recommend taking a short vacation to rejuvenate your body.

2) Know your fertile period: The fertile period during the monthly cycle in a women decreases with the increase in the age. Finding fertile period every month becomes a priority because once the egg is released, the ovary remains fertile only for around 12 hours or so. Ovulation kit or ovulation stick is used to determine when a person is ovulating.

3) Age and the fertility: Fertility decreases with the age. It is an accepted medical fact that the chances of female not conceiving or infertility in women is higher once she is 30 years old. It is not common with all. In most cases decreased fertility does not hamper a woman’s chances of getting pregnant, especially if she has been pregnant before. However, some women do experience the problem of infertility, termed as secondary infertility. This is more common in women who have had their first child after the age of 30. Many treatments are available to overcome this stage.  Plan second pregnancy wisely.  Don’t wait for a long to expand family so that it is too late.

4) Complete Medical checkup:  Couples under the age of 35 when they fail to conceive after trying for more than a year should consult a specialist and undergo a complete check up. For women over 35, the waiting period is six months. The basic test includes Pap smear test to check for abnormalities in the uterus and ovaries and a three-day FSH/ estradiol blood test to measure the level of FSH or follicle-stimulating hormone, which is responsible for release of eggs from the ovary. High levels of the hormone indicate that body is working more to stimulate your ovaries.

5) Additional help of vitamins: Iron and folic acid is very good to improve the fertility. Available in the form of multivitamin tablets, it is taken in addition to the regular meals. The use of this increases the chances of a successful conception and also prevents the baby inside from suffering certain birth defects.

Unlike those couples who have never had a child, those couples going through secondary infertility find it hard to get support from their network of friends and family.

Causes, Remedies and Treatment for Secondary Infertility

Secondary Infertility Treatments

Treatments for secondary infertility are the same as for primary infertility. Treatments may very from individual to individual and may include Fertility drugs, IUI, IVF and sometimes a combination of one or more assisted reproductive options together. Surgery, usually laparoscopic surgery, is done to repair blocked fallopian tubes, or to remove fibroids or endometriosis deposits.

Be assured that your need for treatment is the same as someone with primary infertility. It is not an “extreme measure” to use medical treatments that may help you have the child you desire. If you’re experiencing secondary infertility, talk to your health care provider. Depending on the circumstances, both you and your partner might need medical evaluations. A woman’s gynecologist or a man’s urologist can help determine whether there’s an issue that requires a specialist or treatment at a fertility clinic.

Secondary infertility can be surprising and stressful. Don’t try to cope alone. Seek support from your partner, family and friends as you talk to your doctor about treating your secondary infertility. The good news is that secondary infertility can be treated just like primary infertility. If you suspect you have a fertility problem, get checked out. The sooner you find out the problem, the sooner you can get back on track to having your second, third or fourth child.

The Blossom Fertility and IVF Centre aims to reduce the stress and hassle associated with infertility investigations and treatment, by offering a one-stop diagnostic and fertility treatment service for infertile couples. Over the past decade, the concept of IVF has gained popularity at a swift pace in India. Factors such as delayed pregnancies, altered lifestyle, and changing preferences are the key reasons due to which the problem of infertility in the country is increasing at an alarming rate.

It is the dream of most of the couples to have their own children as part of their relationship. In India 1 in 6 couples have problems in conceiving. This is a journey that no one intends to start, and no one can be sure how it will end. The first step is the recognition that there may be a problem. The formal definition of infertility is failure to conceive after one year of exposure to pregnancy (“unprotected intercourse”). If age is an issue then the waiting time should not be more than 6 months.

Age plays a major role in fertility issues. Fertility starts to decline for women from about the age of 30, dropping down more steeply from the age of 35. As women grow older the likelihood of getting pregnant falls while the likelihood of infertility rises. Even though male fertility also declines with age, it tends to happen gradually for men.
