IVF Facts You Should Know Before Trying to Get Pregnant – Help for little older and struggling to get pregnant couples – Support if you have fertility problems – experience infertility- Pregnancy and baby – Things You Really Need to Know About IVF Before Using It

In vitro fertilization is a popular option for women who are looking for help conceiving, but there’s a lot that comes along with the fertility treatment. That’s why it’s important to have all the IVF treatment facts ahead of time.

You must speak with your obstetrics and gynecology or reproductive endocrinologist or our IVF experts at our reproductive Center to share information to help prepare for your future.

Start with a fertility test first.

Whether you want to get pregnant now or wait a little longer, it’s a good idea to know where your fertility levels stand. Fertility doctors says a simple test called Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test (AMH) is a good indication of egg reserve and grades your fertility levels between high, medium, and low.

IVF isn’t always a first option.

Many women think IVF is their first option if they want it, but the truth is most fertility doctors will tell you to try natural pregnancy first. If you’re 30 to 35, you should try for at least six months and if it’s not working, then you do a work-up to see what to target.

Even after that, our Infertility doctor will try oral or injectable fertility medication before IVF. Of course, there’s always exceptions and those include a low score on your AMH or if you’re 40-years-old or older. If there’s a small sperm count you have to go straight to IVF or if a woman has tubal blockage, recurrent miscarriage (like three or more) or if there’s potential for certain genetic disorders, then you start off with IVF.

IVF works best when you’re younger.

Fertility experts says though we might think IVF is a treatment option when we’re older, the truth is, it actually works better if we’re younger.IVF doesn’t really fix the age of your eggs so you have to think about that early.Unfortunately, along with fertility, IVF success rates or successful pregnancies decline as women get’s older.

Things You Really Need to Know About IVF Before Using It

Things You Really Need to Know About IVF Before Using It

IVF Treatment – It comes at a cost.

You’ve likely heard that IVF can be expensive. It’s true. And while there are affordable fertility clinic to make treatment more accessible, like ours.

Be patient – During IVF Treatment

One of the biggest misconceptions about IVF is that it works right away. It’s very common you’ll need to do it more than once. In younger patients it may be a little less (if you’re not pregnant in the first cycle, you’ll likely get pregnant in the next), but if you’re in your forties the average is like three cycles. This is only an indicative figure and will vary from person to person and case to case basis. Please consult our experts for more on this.

You can have IVF using donated eggs and/or sperm

For some, the hope of having children is diminished by unforeseeable circumstances, such as developing cancer or finding out that you or your partner have low ovarian reserve or low sperm count. In such situations, fertility clinics offer donor conception, which uses sperm, eggs or embryos donated by someone else for your fertility treatment. The use of donor eggs and sperm is becoming more common today.

You are more likely to fall pregnant with a multiple pregnancy through IVF than natural pregnancy

It’s true with reproduction treatments, such as IVF or egg donation. This is because fertility clinics will often use a process called double embryo transfer when carrying out IVF, as traditionally, it was deemed to increase the chances of pregnancy.

IVF Facts You Should Know Before Trying to Get Pregnant

IVF Facts You Should Know Before Trying to Get Pregnant

It’s not 100 percent successful.

The most important fact to know about IVF is it’s not 100 percent successful—the process can take time, money, and even an emotional toll on your life, and in the end, it might not work. Thats were choosing the correct IVF clinic will help you a lot in evry single steps of the fertility treatment process.

Despite the fact that IVF success rates are on the incline because of constant advancement in Assisted Reproductive Technology, it is still important for women and couples who are seeking IVF treatment to take age into consideration. This is because the success of an IVF cycle is very much determined by the age of the embryo and sperm that is being implanted, for example the younger the embryo or oocyte, the greater the chance of conception.

There’s a significant emotional drain on the couple and the relationship. We encourage couples to find alternative outlets like exercise, counselling therapy to find balance throughout the treatment process. There are so many errors built into conception and things we can’t control due to genetics. Most IVF failures are not something that a couple can fix, even if a woman has a good, healthy diet and exercises—those are important, but it’s very age dependent.

Support during the fertility treatment is absolutely vital…infertility treatment can be such a solitary experience otherwise. Counselling can provide emotional support before, during or after fertility treatment. If dealing with infertility leaves you struggling to cope with everyday life or causes you to revisit past problems, counselling can be very therapeutic.

Diabetes is a long-term condition that causes high blood sugar levels. There are 3 types of diabetes. Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes affect females during pregnancy. All types of diabetes are treatable. There is a connection between diabetes and infertility. Diabetes in women prevents them from getting pregnant, implanting embryos, miscarriage and hormonal disturbance. In men diabetes results in erectile dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation. Diabetes doesn’t preclude men and women from reproducing. Type two diabetes can be controlled and side effects limited, making a pregnancy safer.

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience polyuria (frequent urination), they will become increasingly thirsty (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia).

How Does Diabetes Affect Fertility

Diabetes continues to be a major menace that keeps the medical community on tenterhooks. This is one ailment that affects multiple organs of human body including the kidneys, eyes and heart. Diabetes also wrecks havoc with essential processes like digestion, nervous system functioning and makes life pathetic for the victims. This ailment affects women and men from literally all age groups and people from nearly all ethnicities fall prey to the menace. Sadly, diabetes does not spare your sexual prowess either. Both men and women can face fertility problems after becoming diabetic.

People can often have diabetes and be completely unaware. The main reason for this is that the symptoms, when seen on their own, seem harmless. However, the earlier diabetes is diagnosed the greater the chances are that serious complications, which can result from having diabetes, can be avoided. Diabetes is a long-term condition that causes high blood sugar levels.

There are 3 types of diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes – the body does not produce insulin. Approximately 10% of all diabetes cases are type 1.

Type 2 Diabetes – the body does not produce enough insulin for proper function. Approximately 90% of all cases of diabetes worldwide are of this type.

Gestational Diabetes – this type affects females during pregnancy. It occurs when pregnant women without a previous history of diabetes develop a high blood sugar level.

All types of diabetes are treatable. Diabetes type 1 lasts a lifetime, there is no known cure. Type 2 usually lasts a lifetime; however, some people have managed to get rid of their symptoms without medication, through a combination of exercise, diet and body weight control. The majority of gestational diabetes patients can control their diabetes with exercise and diet. Between 10 to 20% of them will need to take some kind of blood-glucose-controlling medications. Gestational diabetes increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes after the pregnancy. Undiagnosed or uncontrolled gestational diabetes can raise the risk of complications during childbirth like

The baby may be bigger than he/she should be.

Premature birth which can lead to complications such as newborn jaundice or respiratory distress syndrome

Your baby having health problems shortly after birth that require hospital care – such as low blood sugar

Miscarriage – the loss of a pregnancy during the first 23 weeks

Stillbirth – the death of your baby around the time of the birth

Diabetes and Fertility

Infertility, the inability to become pregnant within 12 months of trying to conceive, affects about 10% of the population. There are no barriers to infertility: It affects all socioeconomic levels, racial, ethnic and religious groups. The good news is that in the majority of cases, there is a specific medical cause for infertility that can be resolved. In fact, only about 10% of infertility cases go unexplained. In most instances, simple lifestyle changes like weight loss through proper exercise and nutrition can help reverse the affects of infertility. However, diseases like diabetes can cause extra complications for both women and men when it comes to fertility.

If you have been trying with no luck to get pregnant and have not been able to find a reason for your infertility, it may be time to have a simple blood test to determine if your glucose levels are too high. More and more infertility specialists are looking toward this health issue as a main cause of some otherwise unexplained infertility cases they see.

When it comes to diabetes and infertility the answer is clear: there is a connection.

Diabetes in women:

In many cases among women, diabetes alone does not keep them from getting pregnant, but it often at times keeps them from staying pregnant. Fertility doctors say that a woman with higher than normal glucose levels does get pregnant month after month. Unfortunately her diabetes status prevents that embryo from implanting in the uterus, causing a miscarriage before she ever realizes she is pregnant. In this case, the diabetes isn’t preventing conception, but is preventing an ongoing pregnancy. High glucose levels are reported to increase a woman’s chances of miscarriage by 30-60% according to the statistics. Even when implantation does occur, there are other risks considering, including:

  1. An increased risk of birth defects due to damage caused to embryonic cells from the high levels of glucose in the blood
  2. A larger baby resulting in a c-section, which increases a mother’s chances of infection
  3. An increased risk of gestational diabetes in the mother, which can cause other health concerns for both mother and baby

When Glucose Levels are too high in females in addition to keeping an embryo from implanting, glucose levels that is too high can also affect hormone levels throughout the body including the all-important estrogens, progesterone and testosterone levels needed for a pregnancy to occur. That is why glucose control is so vital to your fertility.

When it comes to type 1 diabetes and pregnancy, this is the most dangerous type of diabetes to have for both mother and child. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled and side effects limited, making a pregnancy safer.

Diabetes may be a cause for infertility

Diabetes may be a cause for infertility

Controlling Your Diabetes

When it comes to controlling their diabetes in order to attain a healthy pregnancy, most doctors urge women to plan ahead for a pregnancy by doing the following:

Get their weight to a normal level (the more obese you are, the harder it will be to control your glucose levels)

Get your A1C levels below 6.5 before attempting to get pregnant

Controlling your daily sugar levels for 3-6 months (the longer the better) to give your body the chance to prepare for a pregnancy

Diabetes in Men:

Men are slightly more likely than women to develop diabetes. Men too can experience infertility issues due to high glucose levels. For some retrograde ejaculation, where semen backs up into the bladder, making it impossible to get to the woman’s reproductive organs, becomes a problem, as does erectile dysfunction caused by both the diabetes itself as well as medications which may be used to control it. Still, there is one, more dangerous reproductive side effect to diabetes in men- DNA damage. Diabetes can and does cause serious DNA damage to sperm which can inhibit a pregnancy, live birth and even healthy, normal fetus. What does all this mean? Simply put, a diabetic man who does not control his glucose levels has less of a chance of impregnating his partner and when he does the risk of miscarriage and deformities are much higher.

Should Diabetic Partners Try and Conceive At All?

Both diabetic partners or and either of them having diabetes always has a question whether it is even safe for them to try and get pregnant at all. While it is important to understand the risks involved in high glucose levels and fertility, it is also important to understand that simply controlling your glucose levels, and getting (and keeping them) at a more normal level will reduce these risks and offer the opportunity for a safe pregnancy resulting in a healthy baby. The key to success, of course, is working with your endocrinologist and obstetrician to ensure that your glucose levels remain stable months before trying to conceive as well as during a pregnancy. With a good plan and dedication to eating right and staying healthy, your chances of giving birth are very high, despite a diabetes diagnosis.

Infertility specialists encourage their patients with Type 2 diabetes to focus their efforts on eating healthy, exercising, losing weight and closely monitoring blood sugar levels. Taking vitamin supplements is also encouraged. If those efforts alone don’t lead to a healthy pregnancy, then medications may be introduced to improve fertility. It can be a challenge to make the lifestyle changes necessary to deal with Type 2 diabetes. The good news is that those efforts are, quite often, rewarded.

Research has shown a strong correlation between PCOS and Type 2 diabetes. Both PCOS and Type 2 diabetes are characterized by unhealthy levels of blood glucose and a resistance to insulin. A variety of medications can be prescribed to help lessen or reverse the effects of PCOS. As with Type 2 diabetes, a healthy lifestyle can also go a long way toward reducing or eliminating PCOS. The key is to bring blood sugar levels into a normal and stable range while combating insulin resistance.

Diabetes doesn’t preclude men and women from reproducing. It does, however, require professional guidance, meticulous maintenance of health, and monitoring of blood sugar and hormonal levels. With proper care and attention, the vast majority of diabetics can have healthy offspring.

  6. Taking help of ART Treatments like IVF, ICSI, IUI, Laser Assisted Hatching, Donor Egg and Embryo, Sperm donor, PGD – Pre implantation Genetic Diagnosis, Surrogacy

Fertility can be affected by surprising factors that are habitually incorporated in our daily life. Many a times this factor are so much integral part of our daily life that we don’t recognize that it will be serious enough to cause female infertility. So if you’re trying to get pregnant, or foresee a mini-you sometime in the future, it’s imperative to learn what lifestyle changes might be in stock.

  1. Night-time Smartphone/tablet activity and fertility

Staring at your Smartphone or tablet screens at night, messes with more than just your sleep cycle. According to research published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, artificial night-time light exposure can damage both your ability to conceive and fetal development if you’re already pregnant. Late-night light exposure can suppress melatonin production, that’s also produced in the reproductive tract and blocks eggs from harmful free radicals, chiefly during ovulation. Insufficient melatonin production can also disrupt a developing fetus’ internal clock, resulting in long-term problems, researchers suggest.

If you’re hoping to conceive, or you’re already expecting, avoid light disturbances close to bedtime or while you are trying to sleep. Keep the tablets and phones out of your bed, shut off the TV and other light-emitting screens, and make sure illumination from streetlamps isn’t creeping in through your bedroom windows.

  1. Junk food and infertility

If you’re a burger and fries junkie, you know you’re not consuming the right nutrients, such as monounsaturated fats, zinc, vitamin D, and B6, which means, you could be disrupting your body’s regulation of critical reproductive hormones like progesterone, insulin, and testosterone. Skip the chocolate cake and pizza on weekends and consume healthy foods instead to boost your body’s potential of having a baby. Also, make certain you’re eating a heavy and nutritious breakfast because research published in Clinical Science found that consuming about half of your daily calories in the a.m. could increase your fertility. Junk food can also have adverse effect on weight, blood sugar, insulin production, and cholesterol and cardiovascular disease.

  1. Poor oral health affecting fertility

A study in the Journal of Period ontology found that women who needed fertility treatments had higher levels of gum bleeding and inflammation than those who conceived naturally. Several studies have indicated that a woman’s oral health may be related to her reproductive success. So if you want to conceive anytime soon, make sure to brush and floss regularly and make sure to visit your dentist twice a year. Poor oral health is as bad for fertility as obesity – delaying conception by about two months. Gum disease might be one of several factors that could be modified to improve the chances of a pregnancy.

  1. Folic acid deficiency

If there’s one vitamin you should be consuming when you’re trying to get pregnant or you anticipate pregnancy in the future, its folic acid. Women who take folic acid supplements every day have a better chance of getting pregnant and aid in conception too, say researchers. Those taking a supplement regularly had a 40 per cent lower risk of suffering problems producing eggs – the second biggest cause of female infertility. Women hoping to become pregnant are currently advised to take a 0.4mg supplement of folic acid every day after stopping contraception, and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Advances in infertility have proved that this essential supplement should be taken throughout this phase, after all, in most cases, infertility is temporary, and conception is possible at any time. The easiest and most reliable way to secure this intake is to take daily folic acid supplement or begin consuming sunflower seeds, spinach and eggs for a natural folic acid boost.

Junk food can directly affect your fertility

  1. Use Of Cosmetics and infertility

A study conducted by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, found that the chemical in fact compromises your ability to conceive. Research suggests that women with the most phthalates in their systems were twice as likely to suffer from implantation failure as compared to women with the lowest level of phthalates. Most of us would be horrified to learn that many of the products that we apply directly to our skin are made from the same harsh chemicals used in industry, and are known hormone disruptor’s for both men and women. In high levels they are linked to reproductive and fertility problems in women. With that said, you can limit your exposure by avoiding cosmetics that list dibutylphthalate (DBP), dimethylphthalate (DMP), and diethylphthalate (DEP) as ingredients or basically steer clear of scented cosmetics since phthalates are often added to makeup to make its scent last longer.

Harmful chemicals in cosmetics can affect your fertility

  1. Fertility and a woman’s weight

If you’re trying to get pregnant, or intend to start trying, knowing that being overweight can affect your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby. Being underweight can also reduce a woman’s fertility. If you are planning to get pregnant in the next year or few years, healthy eating and regular exercise can boost your fertility. Unhealthy weight can mess with your ovulation.

Obesity can affect fertility by causing hormonal imbalances and problems with ovulation, particularly for obese women having their first baby. Obesity is associated with poly-cystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common cause of infertility. If a mother is obese, it increases the risk of pregnancy complications and health problems for the baby. Risks associated with obesity in pregnancy include miscarriage, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, infection, blood clotting, need for induction of labour, Caesarean birth and stillbirth. Being underweight can also reduce a woman’s fertility. It can cause hormone imbalances that affect ovulation and therefore a woman’s chance of getting pregnant. Compared to healthy weight women, underweight women are more than twice as likely to take more than a year to get pregnant. Having a BMI under 18.5 is considered ‘underweight’.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is an arrangement in which woman  carries and delivers child for another couple or person.

Surrogacy is a form of assisted reproductive treatment (ART) in which a woman carries a child in her uterus on behalf of another person or couple. A surrogacy arrangement or surrogacy agreement is the carrying of a pregnancy for intended parents. A surrogate mother is someone who conceives, carries and gives birth to a child for another person or couple (intended parents or commissioning parents). The surrogate mother agrees to give the child to that person or couple after the birth. Intended parents may seek a surrogacy arrangement when either pregnancy is medically impossible or pregnancy risks present an unacceptable danger to the mother’s health. Monetary compensation may or may not be involved in these arrangements. If the surrogate receives compensation beyond reimbursement of medical and other reasonable expenses, the arrangement is considered commercial surrogacy; otherwise, it is referred to as altruistic. The legality and costs of surrogacy vary widely between jurisdictions, sometimes resulting in interstate or international surrogacy arrangements.

There are two main types of surrogacy, gestational surrogacy and traditional surrogacy. In gestational surrogacy, the pregnancy results from the transfer of an embryo created by in vitro fertilization (IVF), in a manner so the resulting child is genetically unrelated to the surrogate. Gestational surrogates are also referred to as gestational carriers. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate is impregnated naturally or artificially, but the resulting child is genetically related to the surrogate.

Is surrogacy for me?

Surrogacy may be appropriate, if you have a medical condition that makes it impossible or dangerous to achieve pregnancy & to give birth, which includes,

  • Absence or non-development of womb
  • Recurrent IVF Failure (implantation failure) OR recurrent miscarriages
  • Intrauterine adhesions
  • Life threatening medical conditions involving heart, liver or blood diseases, in which pregnancy is contraindicated.

For any surrogacy arrangement there needs to be intended parents, surrogate mother, egg donor and the sperm donor as the case may be. If either of the parent is not able to contribute his sperm or her egg then the help of the donor will be taken. Surrogate mothers role is very important and crucial in the whole process of surrogacy. Due care and search must be taken before selecting a surrogate mother.

Surrogacy clinic like ours have a very meticulous and stringent criteria for choosing a surrogate. Most of the surrogates are married and have children. However, for some exceptional cases, there are few who are widows and have children and are willing to do surrogacy. This is done on the requirement of certain clients whose country’s laws allow easier return of the baby with the intended parents if the child is born to a surrogate mother who is single.

Get Pregnant: Helpful Tips to Getting Pregnant

Having a child in today’s world isn’t as easy as it may seem for a lot of people. Infertility can be caused by a variety of environmental and genetic complications. For most couples, making the decision to begin building a family is a fun and exciting time. You spend late nights up laughing together and formulating baby names as you imagine the magic yet to come. In those early months, the act of trying can actually infuses passion and romance into your relationship. The first cycle or two of negative pregnancy tests don’t even seem to matter, because when you have no reason to believe anything might be wrong, you just assume it will happen eventually. As more months pass without happy news, however, the fun and excitement begins to fade; replaced now by stress, disappointment and worries.

Accepting the fact that you suffer from infertility is heart-wrenching. The fact that family building will be difficult in all terms like biologically, emotionally, financially and socially gives you a feeling as though you are being failed by your own body. Even with a diagnosis and treatment plan in place, many women and couples still struggle to regain that sense of stability which is regularly lost at the hands of infertility.

In today’s time, most of the time female infertility is related to the age factor. Women’s are prolonging the motherhood for one or the other reason like career, financial strength and search for the better partner. By the time all goals are achieved biological clock in the women starts ticking. It becomes too late to start pregnancy naturally. Then there is no other option to seek help of assisted reproductive technology like IVF, ICSI, IUI, Egg Donor, Cryopreservation and others.

When a couple plans for a baby it is important that apart from spending quality time with your spouse other few important things must also be considered. Normally people wait for the conception to happen and then after trying for sometime if they fail they will seek specialist help. Along the path to baby making there may be some things you can do that can vastly increase your chances of successfully conceiving. Although some may be more drastic than others, it’s a small price to pay for enlightening your future. Following must be considered.

Chemical Interactions on Human Body

Toxic chemicals can do a variety of damage within the body. A large portion of this damage is silent and may not manifest itself immediately. In many situations, pesticides and petroleum-based products can cause infertility for both men and women. Environmental contaminants are recognized hazards to reproductive health. An unprecedented study has revealed that the chemicals in everyday products including sunscreen, toothpaste and soap, could be damaging human sperm. Common chemical additives found in sunscreens, food packaging, toothpaste and toys can harm sperm and may affect the fertility of some couples, scientists say. If you’re trying to conceive a child, it may be best to stay away from harsh chemicals and eat more organic foods.

Possible Foods and Beverages to Avoid

It has been found that food can greatly impact the ability to reproduce and has been discovered in both men and women alike. Some food products are more potent at improving fertilization than others and can affect the results of conception for up to 90 days. According to Hethir Rodriguez C.H. at Natural Fertility Info, women who ate more proteins from plants than animals were more likely to reproduce. A major factor in this Harvard study was the reduction of consuming Tran’s fats. The foods that you consume on a daily basis can affect your fertility in both positive and negative ways. It’s common knowledge that eating a diet full of fat and calories will negatively affect your body and your fertility, but did you also know that eating a diet that is too strict can also negatively affect your fertility? The drinks that you are consuming every day can also affect your fertility in both positive and negative ways. There are a few simple food tips that everyone can follow to help improve fertility and boost the chances of successfully conceiving. Eat balanced diet, limit the consumption of caffeine, drink alcohol sparingly, take folic supplements and avoid tobacco consumption and intake through inhaling the smoke of tobacco.

Avoiding Allergens on the Path of Pregnancy

Reducing your interaction with things that produce allergic reactions can improve your chances of having a baby. It’s believed that your immune system may be capable of doing its job all too well leading to miscarry upon fertilization. Allergies to food have also been linked to anti-sperm capabilities reducing the male’s capacity to fertilize an egg. If you are allergic or sensitive to certain things avoid it during the time of conception.

Sexual Transmitted Diseases and its Effects

Some STDs have the capacity to render a person’s reproductive system inert. For instance, Chlamydia infections can cause abnormalities and sperm antibodies in men while scarring and blocking fallopian tubes within women. Even though you may not be showing signs of various diseases, these could be wreaking havoc on you internally. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are important preventable causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility. Untreated, about 10-15% of women with chlamydia will develop PID. Chlamydia can also cause fallopian tube infection without any symptoms. PID and “silent” infection in the upper genital tract may cause permanent damage to the fallopian tubes, uterus, and surrounding tissues, which can lead to infertility. Getting regular checkups for younger women’s below the age of 25 years and those opting for pregnancy is very beneficial especially since many of these complications could lay dormant for several years before manifesting themselves.

Sperm Donors for Male Infertility

When the reason for infertility is male factor and low sperm count or no sperm at all then donor sperm treatment is at the rescue of infertile couple. There are a lot of men that are affected by low motility and decreased sperm counts. If all else fails, donor programs are available to help conceive a child. You can purchase vials of sperm and have them quickly shipped to you. This provides social anonymity and helps keep the process private, which is helpful if you feel embarrassed by having complications such as these. In short time, you can begin the process of having your own child while using a donor’s sperm.

Donor insemination is a simple procedure that uses a syringe to place semen into a woman’s vagina to assist her in getting pregnant. The semen is normally obtained from someone other than the woman’s husband or partner. With the newer technology and success of the ICSI procedure that enables a single sperm to be manually inserted into the woman’s egg versus a complete semen collection, donor insemination is becoming less common.

Following are the recommended ways to optimize Your Health and Fertility and it includes

1) Getting enough sleep. Odd sleep and wake cycles can throw off your menstrual cycle, which is unlikely to lead to infertility but could make getting pregnant fast more difficult.

2) Eating a balanced diet and drinking enough water. Shun extreme diets or binging when you’re trying to conceive.

3) Lowering stress may help you conceive faster. Acute stress can throw off your menstrual cycle.

4) For the men, it is recommended to keep away from hot tubs, laptops placed directly on the lap, seat warmers, and sitting too long with the legs close together. It can all increase the scrotal temperatures, which can negatively impact sperm counts.

5) Washing your hands and staying away from sick people. Illness can throw off your cycle.

6) Cut down on caffeine and alcohol drinks – this is for the men and the women both. Quit smoking too.

It is not an easy job to follow the recommendations but not difficult if it is not only improving your health now but also helping you have a healthier pregnancy and be a good example to your future child.

There are other things you can do to improve your fertility and overall health that take more effort and time. A big one is making sure your weight falls within healthy limits. Being just slightly overweight has been shown to decrease fertility.

There are many complications that can prevent someone from conceiving a child. While some can be circumvented easily, others may require a more in-depth analysis into reproductive treatments. These methods are substantiated by scientific evidence, but there is no guarantee that they will work for you. Each person is different and what works for one may not work for another. It is just a guideline that will help intending parents to conceive faster.

Fibroids, Fertility and Pregnancy – Do uterine fibroids cause infertility and should they be removed to increase fertility? – can fibroids make it difficult to get pregnant? – Uterine Fibroid Symptoms and Complications Treatment in Surat Gujarat – How do fibroids affect Pregnancy – fertility? – Learn how fibroids affect fertility in this article -Fibroids and infertility – an updated systematic review of the evidence – Treatment Options for Fibroids of Uterus – Fibroids and Pregnancy

Fibroids are non-cancerous tumors of the uterus (womb). Fibroids grow out of the cells that make up your uterus. Uterine fibroids (also called myomas or leiomyomas) are benign (noncancerous) tumors of muscle tissue that can change the shape or size of the uterus and sometimes the cervix. They start in the smooth muscle cells inside the wall of the uterus (myometrium). Fibroids usually occur in the form of multiple tumors, although single fibroids are sometimes possible. Fibroids can be as small as a pea or as large as a football. Having uterine fibroids does not increase your risk of cancer. They are almost always benign, no matter how large they get.

Fibroids and Pregnancy

Fibroids and Pregnancy

The fact that approximately 20% to 50% of women suffer from the symptoms generated by fibroid tumors at some stage of their lives suggests that they are quite common growths in the reproductive system of a woman. Age is a factor. Fibroids are more common in women who are 35 years of age or older. Women under the age of 20 rarely have fibroids. These tumors of the uterus tend to shrink after menopause. Studies indicate that black women are nine times more susceptible to fibroids than white women. Furthermore, women who are overweight are more likely to have fibroids because of higher levels of estrogen. No one knows exactly what causes uterine fibroids. But the hormones that regulate your periods, particularly estrogen, are known to play a part. Fibroids increase in size slowly over the years. But when estrogen level in the body rises the rate of growth increases. The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unclear, but there is evidence that it may be a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors.

Not all fibroids are the same, and they’re categorised based on where they are located. Fibroids are usually found in or around the body of the uterus, but they sometimes occur in the cervix. Fibroids within the uterus can be divided into three categories: subserous (located in the outer wall of the uterus); intramural (found in the muscular layers of the uterine wall); and submucous (protruding into the uterine cavity). In addition, fibroids can be connected to the uterus through a stalk (pedunculated), or fibroids can be attached to nearby organs, like the bladder and bowel, or the ligaments surrounding the uterus. About 55% of fibroids are subserosal; 40% are intramural; and 5% are submucosal. Fibroids are rarely found outside the pelvic cavity.

Large intramural fibroids may alter the blood flow to the uterine lining and may also alter the shape of the uterine cavity. Subserosal fibroids usually don’t alter the shape of the uterine cavity, but when large can cause discomfort. The only type that is supposed to have a large impact on reproductive function (unless they are large or numerous) is the submucous type that pushes in to the uterine cavity. These are much less common than the other 2 types of fibroids. Because of their location inside the uterine cavity, submucous fibroids can cause fertility problems and miscarriages. Submucous fibroids can often be surgically resected to improve fertility.

Fibroids, Fertility and Pregnancy

Treatment Options for Fibroids of Uterus

Diagnosis of the Fibroids: Fibroids are very common. About 25 percent of women in their childbearing years will have signs of fibroids that can be detected by a pelvic examination, although not all will experience symptoms. Your medical history and a pelvic exam are necessary in diagnosing fibroids. Listed below are tests that may also be used to confirm the diagnosis:

1) Ultrasound – a scan that uses high frequency sound waves to detect fibroids in and around the uterus and cervix

2) Hysterosalpingogram – a procedure that uses x-rays and a special dye to detect fibroids on the inside of your uterus and to see if your fallopian tubes are open

3) Hysteroscopy – a procedure in which your doctor uses a narrow fiber optic telescope inserted into the uterine cavity to look for and sometimes remove fibroids

4) Laparoscopy – a procedure in which your doctor uses a narrow fiber optic telescope inserted through an incision near your navel to look for and sometimes remove fibroids

What symptoms are experienced if fibroids exist?

The severity of symptoms will depend on the number, size, and location of the fibroids. You may experience severe, painful cramps and abnormal or excessive bleeding, especially during your periods. Also, you may have difficulty with moving your bowels or urinating if you have fibroids that are putting pressure on your rectum or bladder. Hemorrhoids may also develop if you become constipated. However, if your fibroids are small, you may not have any symptoms at all. In fact, you may not know that you have fibroids until you go through infertility testing.

What treatments are available to cure fibroids?

Fibroids can be treated surgically or with medications. Fibroids can be removed during a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, or through an open incision (myomectomy). Medications that stop or interfere with your body’s estrogen production are used to shrink fibroids and prevent them from growing larger. Once the medication is stopped, the fibroids will regrow. Medication is mainly used for treatment prior to surgery.

However, you can only use these medications for a few months – long-term use may increase your risk of bone loss. Keep in mind that treatments do not provide a cure – new fibroids can grow after treatment. Most fibroids are usually small, asymptomatic, and don’t require treatment. These benign tumors only need close gynecological observation to document changes in size or the early onset of symptoms.

can fibroids make it difficult to get pregnant.

Fibroids and infertility – an updated systematic review of the evidence

Fibroid Symptoms

Common symptoms associated to fibroids are back pain, abdominal pressure or discomfort, urinary frequency, rectal pressure or discomfort, and periods that can be painful, heavy and prolonged, Difficulty emptying your bladder and constipation. Rarely, a fibroid can cause acute pain when it outgrows its blood supply.

Does fibroid decrease fertility?

Uterine fibroids are common, and they are found in 5-10% of infertile women. When all other causes of infertility are excluded fibroids may account for only 2 to 3% of infertility cases. Certain types of fibroids are known to decrease fertility. They include fibroids that are inside the uterine cavity and very large fibroids (>6 cm in diameter) that are located within the wall of the uterus. Because most women with fibroids will not be infertile, they and their partners should have a thorough evaluation to detect other problems that can decrease fertility. A fertility specialist can help determine if fibroids might be hampering their ability to conceive.

There are several explanations for why uterine fibroids may reduce fertility.

1)   Changes in the position of the cervix due to fibroids located above it may affect the number of sperm that can travel through the cervix.

2)   Changes in the shape of the uterus can interfere with sperm movement.

3)   Blockage of the fallopian tubes by the fibroids.

4)     Affecting the blood flow to the uterine cavity where the embryo would implant.

5)    Changes in the uterine muscle that prevents movement of the sperm or the embryo.

If you have a fibroid problem, there are several treatments to consider. Fibroids can be surgically removed, the blood supply to fibroids can be cut off, the entire uterus can be removed, or medicine can temporarily shrink fibroids. Your choice will depend on whether you have severe symptoms and whether you want to preserve your fertility. If you have uterine fibroids but you have few or no symptoms, you don’t need treatment. Instead, your doctor will recommend watchful waiting. This means that you will have regular pelvic exams to check on fibroid growth and symptoms. Talk with your doctor about how often you will need a checkup. If you are nearing menopause, watchful waiting may be an option for you, depending on how tolerable your symptoms are. After menopause, your estrogen and progesterone levels will drop, which causes most fibroids to shrink and symptoms to subside.

pregnancy- Fibroids and Pregnancy

Fibroids and Pregnancy

It is an impression that fibroids contribute to infertility and there are instances that shows that previously infertile women conceived after their fibroids had been removed. However there are no   strong evidence of causation, so whether fibroids do cause infertility, and therefore whether they should be removed, is still uncertain.

You should call your doctor if you have heavy bleeding, increased cramping, or bleeding between periods or if you feel fullness or heaviness in your lower belly area. Can you alter Baby’s genes with your pre-pregnancy diet?  – Pregnancy – Diet and weight, at the time of conception, alter a baby’s DNA – Importance of Pre conception Diet for a baby – infertility – fertilization – conception – Nutrition before and during Pregnancy – Getting Pregnant.

It is always said that you should have proper nutritious diet when you are carrying a child because ultimately your child gets nutrition from your food. What you eat during those nine months can have long-term effects on your child’s health. Normally this tip is given by mothers and grandmother and all other experienced females. Hence diet plays an important role for healthy pregnancy and healthy child.

Researchers have discovered that nutrition at the time of conception can alter a baby’s genes permanently. Researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine published a report that outlines the effects a woman’s diet has on her baby. Here the talk is not about the diet during pregnancy but it is about the pre pregnancy diet. That means what a mother eats (or lacks nutritionally) before she conceives a baby can permanently alter her child’s genes.

Conception - Pregnancy - Fertilization Mother's diet

Importance of nutrition before Conception

Normally the diet of the women changes once she is pregnant. Sometimes it’s due to aversions and cravings, but most pregnant moms try to eat a healthier diet. However researchers say that what your nutrition status is like right around conception can play a big part in your baby’s genetic makeup.

While a child’s genes are inherited directly from their parents, how these genes are expressed is controlled through ‘epigenetic’ modifications to the DNA. One such modification involves tagging gene regions with chemical compounds called methyl groups and results in silencing the genes. The addition of these compounds requires key nutrients including folate, vitamins B2, B6 and B12, choline and methionine.

The team studied six genes and what can cause them to turn on or off, focusing on specific nutritional components, such as B vitamins, and what their effects are on those genes. The switch for turning genes on or off is controlled by methylation, and they discovered that in women whose blood levels of these particular nutrients were low, these genes had less methylation.

Even more notable, they found that the levels weren’t out of normal range — they were just lower than the cases where there was more methylation on the genes. They also found that the higher a woman’s BMI at the time of conception, the less methylation was present, and again, the women’s weights weren’t out of range.

In essence, they found that there were just a few subtle differences that make permanent changes in genes. The team did not study how this affected fetal development, nor the child’s health as he grew up.

The on-going research is yielding strong indications that the methylation machinery can be disrupted by nutrient deficiencies and that this can lead to disease. The ultimate goal is to define an optimal diet for mothers-to-be that would prevent defects in the methylation process. Pre-conceptional folic acid is already used to prevent defects in embryos. Now research is pointing towards the need for a cocktail of nutrients, which could come from the diet or from supplements before conception.

Importance of Pre conception Diet for a baby - infertility - fertilization - conception

The basic funda of the study prove that mom’s diet prior to conception can influence her babies DNA during pregnancy. It also shows correlation between a mother’s nutritional well-being prior to conception, and how that well-being will affect the DNA of her baby over the course of its life. The aim of the whole study is to demonstrate that a mother’s nutritional well-being at the time of conception can change how her child’s genes will be interpreted, with a life-long impact. Thus mother’s diet before pregnancy could permanently affect many aspects of her children’s lifelong health.

The study did in fact; prove that mom’s diet prior to conception can influence her babies DNA during pregnancy. However study is in very initial stage and more work is required.

We all know that experts suggest getting to your optimal weight before pregnancy, and beginning a quality diet way before you are told to at your first appointment is a sound idea. However, pregnancy doesn’t always happen when we expect it to. The point to take away, then, is to eat a healthy, balanced diet and strive for your ideal weight whether pregnancy is on the horizon or not.
